The weekend of 13th – 15th May saw 140 Cubs from Hitchin arrive at Boyd Field Henlow for their District Camp to celebrate 100 years of Cub Scouts. The weekend started with Cubs arriving on Friday evening and we all came together for flag break and welcome. We also announced the winner of the badge competition which we ran to produce a Hitchin 100 years camp badge, the winner was Ethan Hawkins from the 17th Hitchin and all the Cubs and leaders were given a badge as a memory of the weekend. Everyone then went to get ready for camp fire and after we had all had a good sing it was time to headback to camp via the main hall where the Cubs got to see their amazing birthday cake. Then it was the Cubs favourite time, off to bed to get some sleep before the activities on Saturday. Some Cubs didn’t seem to understand what sleep meant and got their leaders up very early!

Saturday the Cubs went round in groups taking part in various activities including go karting, zip wire, obstacle course, zorbing, spider mountain, scavenger hunt, fishing and slack line. Everyone was having a great time and one cub was heard shouting on his way down spider mountain, “this is the best day ever.”

After dinner on Saturday evening everyone got to take part in the party fair where all the Cubs had a go at hook the duck, splat the rat, coconut shy, giant kerplunk, beat the goalie, welly wanging, hoopla, bowling - and they even got a choc ice.

Sunday was time to start the activities again to ensure that everyone had a go at every activity.

At 2pm we all came together again as sadly it was time to go home, everyone had a fantastic time and will have memories to last forever.
